|
The YS Falls are situated in private property.
One has to drive from the entrance of the property to the waterfall
in a tractor and trailer. The YS Falls are in the shape of a “Y” and one can swing
into the water on a rope swing.
Black River was the first town in Jamaica which had
electricity. On the river of

With a bit of luck you could be in time to watch the feeding
session and, you can even call them by name!

Dunn's
River Fall or dolphin Coast – including lunch (real Yerk Pork - Fern
Gully Columbus Point
The most famous, is perhaps the Dunn's River Fall, a
waterfall which begins at a height of 183 m in the hills over the city and
flows over travertine rock into the sea.
It is best to climb the falls in a human chain with an experienced guide.
On the dolphin Coast you can swim with the
dolphins.
It is a beautiful drive along Fern Gully road, which
connects Kingston to the other side of the island. Enormous ferns, (300
different varieties) some with leaves the size of a large car, rise up out
of the dense, damp forest.
Columbus discovered Jamaica in 1494.
In 1503 his ship was wrecked near the coast of
Jamaica. He and his crew
spent 1 year in Jamaica, till they were finally picked up by another ship.

Kingston
Devon House - Port Royal – including a drink in a bar in Kingston with a
beautiful view over Kingston
This house has been restored from the 19 hundreds.
It was built by the first black millionaire.
Today it is partly used as a museum which exhibits antiques; other
sections are occupied by a restaurant, and a shop “Things Jamaica”
which sells high-quality goods and products.
Port Royal was a notorious place, used by hundreds
of Pirates. The gold and rum was cheap but so was human life!
In 1692 a part of the city sank into the sea.
There are rumours, that the bells of the church which also sank can
still be heard today. It
is said that there is a curse on this spot and the remains of the building
that once existed can still be seen slowly disappearing into the sand.
Innumerable deep sea divers from all over the world come here in
the hope of finding sunken treasures.

Treasure Beach is one of the best beaches in the
country. Unfortunately, the
roads on the south coast are
not in very good condition but a trip is worth the effort as an
alternative to the typical touristic experience.

Rose Hall –
Falmoth River-Rafting
|

Rose Hall
|
The Rose Hall Great House is one of Jamaica’s premier tourist
attractions. It was formerly the home of Annie Palmer, the white witch of
Rose Hall. Dead for over 100 years, her legend still evokes memories of
her monstrous reign as the mistress of the Great House. All three of her
husbands met their death at her hands, while countless slaves suffered as
a result of her ruthlessness. It
is said that her ghost still haunts the house.
It is said, that Flynn
observed how bananas were transported on bamboo rafts from the mountains
high above, to the markets below and therefore thought that it would be
fun floating down the river on a raft.
Today there are hundreds of rafters, who have built
their own rafts and who offer visitors an exciting two hour trip on the
river through the rain forest.

In
Oracabessa, lies the former home of the writer Noel

“Firefly” is still in the same condition as it was in 1973, the year
in which he died.
The

pirate and politician Sir Henry Morgan, lies on a hill high above sea
level. It is surely one of
the most spectacular sights of interest in Jamaica and definitely worth
seeing. The route is a
winding road which passes through tiny villages.
Even if you do not know the writer, it is worth the trip because;
the view is something you will never forget in your life.

Mandeville is situated at a height of approximately 609

touristic.
